Here were some of my rules or rather guidelines from before that I can remember:-

1. Be kind to human beings and to a much lesser extent animals(but remember there there are often a lot of excepting cases to this rule such killing animals for food or killing vermin such as rats or the use of animals in experiments in science and medicine, it may in extreme cases be acceptable to kill in war through the just war tradition, or may sometimes be necessary to be cruel to to those who commmit serious crime, felonies, riot control, the right to revolt if the vote is denied to you in fair elections and so on)

2. Pursue good health

3. Read widely

4. Try and be disciplined about work if you are able bodied, whether it be paid work, voluntary work, housework or school or college work. Try to delay gratification sometimes. (see M.Scott Peck the road less travelled and also Freud and Mischel)

5. Allow time for rest and play too, at least one day of rest and mostly playprobably two. In an ideal world three, though this is rsrely possible)

6. Do not murder This is pinched from the Bible as a lot of these guidelines are)

7. Do not steal

8. Do not rape

9. Do not commit adultery.

10 Study the sciences such as the natural sciences such as physics chemistry, biology geology, astronomy, computing, electronics study also the social sciences such as psychology, sociology, economics, geography, history, anthropology study also the domestic sciences such as house cleaning, cooking and gardening.

(I have studied a lot of physical and social science, but I have only a very basic knowlege of domestic sciences. I hope to lean to cook more soon in the next 5 years.)

11. Enjoy and study art, literature and music.

12. Learn a musical instrument.

13. Learn Edward de Bono's thinking tools and Tony Buzan's mind maps and study methods.
14. Study philosophy.

15. Play games with people and with computers for enjoyment and to build up relationships of love with friends and family

16. Try not to be racist
17. Give great care to child rearing. Change nappies (both sexes here!)look after their welfare in all ways, play games with them tell them stories THIS VERY IMPORTANT

18. Do not smoke tobacco.

19. Do not drink alcohol to excess. 21 units per week is the safe limit for men 14 units for women, this may rise to about 35/25 one week in 4 say at a close friend or close family member or Xmas. Do not drink more than 10 units at the one time.

20 Do not do drugs that are not prescribed by a responsible doctor or recommended by a responsible pharmacist or of the over the counter aspirin type.

21. Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.

22. Love your neighbour as yourself

23. Observe the Good samaritan story in the Bible, and to extent try to emulate such behaviour.

24. Love your enemies and do not take revenge, but do not take this to the point of naivity

25. Enjoy mutually contenting safe sex with one partner preferably within marriage or engagement, or at least masturbaution if you can't find anone.

26. Learn practical skills or trades.

27. Try and learn a foreign language. (I haven't done this very well)

28. Remember that one of the rules of economics is specialisation, so the amount of study and learnnig I have recommended may be a wee bit much for most people. It is not possible for one person to know all things.

29 Try not to be a hypocrite.

30.Try and look after your appearnce a bit (if you are between 10 and 70) bathe, shower and shave frequently or trim and clean your beard if you have one. Try and keep your clothes clean and every now and then buy new ones.

31. Take care when driving a vehicle. Don't drink and drive, don't speed, wear a seatbelt drive within the Highway code, drive a fuel effiecient ecologically friendly car. If you are really eco-concerned like me don't drive at all, and try and use alternatives like public transport or cycling though this is not practical for a lot of people, and I do quite often use taxis for short distances.

32. Be somewhat concerned about safety at work, and also safety at home. DO not be frightened to take a little risk however.

33. Try and keep your house, dishes and clothes clean

34. Unless you are really poor yourself try to give substatially to charities that help the poor and sick I think ofam is an especially sesving cause.

35. Do not torture.

36. Be flexible in ceratin circumstances more rules can be broken or bent.

37. Be environmentally friendly reuse and recycle and so on.

38. Usually respect your parents. (this drawn from the Bible as a lot of these are) To a lesser extent respect siblings particularly older siblings and other family members.

39. Give your children a fairly liberal quite comprehensive sex education.

40. Venerate god however you understand him to be as a person, as love as Plato's world of ideas, as the embodiment of the world's scientific laws. Celebrate communion as the washing away of our sins by Jesus blood on the cross. Venerate the bible and the symbols of Christianity to an extent to but try and be liberal and not-literal in your interpretation. To a lesser extent and within reason respect and venerate the texts and symbols of the other main faiths of the world, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Islam, Wicca, Shintoism, Hinduism, Judaism, Jainism. Respect other people's beliefs.

Can't think any more at present.

41. Do no manufacture or deploy or use nuclear, radiological, chemical or biological weapons. Or napalm. Observe the Geneva conventions and the rules of war.

42. Enjoy a bit of comedy now and then

43. I would suggest that you don't watch too much TV. Try to emphasise merit and public service TV when you do watch.

44. Take some interest in politics

45. Take a little interest in sport.

46. If you have the money I would suggest take a holiday to a resort every now and then.

47. Try and enjoy life, though not all the time.

48. For the most part avoid things like astrology and palmistry and other such pseudo science.

49. Do not commit idolotory

50. If you break these guideliens don't be too hard on yourself ( unless its a murder or a rape or something serious like that and even then after you have served your entence remember sins are forgiven)As St. Paul said all have sinned and come short of the glory of god.

54. Beware of the dangers of blindly obeying orders from authority figures including this one especially when those orders are to harm or hurt or kill people (see Stanley Milgram's study in obedience)

55. Usually it is good 'do what you are told' when those orders are not to hurt or harm or kill people.

I can't remember any more can anyone find my original post with the original 70 rules or guidelines?
