Yes, Gold is continuing to get hammered, and Platinum and Palladium are getting hammered nearly as badly, and Silver is getting crucified. What exactly did Goldman Sachs write to their customers? Jayster |

I guess Cypress is rumored to soon dump its gold into the market, not that they have so much. I guess Goldman Sachs did predict gold will make a slight drop in price in its forecast of gold prices immediately coming up. I guess the unemployment figures in the USA look better? I guess the FED just hinted it may ease up on QE.
Hey what happens when Fort Knox decides to dump it's gold? I'm looking at what's in Fort Know and figuring at current prices, there's about 4 Trillion dollars worth of gold just sitting on its butt . . .

Of course, the bulls are saying the conditions are still right for precious metals to advance, and if so, an advance could be fast and furious.

Seth Meyers is a super talented guy that I saw in Connecticut this evening.
This comedian spoke of the interconnectedness of all our economies and how precarious it all is. He said, for example, in the European union 17 countries have to have a unanimous agreement before steps can be taken. Can you imagine how difficult that can be? Slovakia can cancel the whole thing! Actually, the Germans are the real financial wizards. But can you imagine how the Greeks and Italians and Spaniards bristle when (and he named him) comes to the summit and says (and his German accent and inflection were perfect), "We have a solution." I used to be proud to be a minimalist. I liked going to the grocery store several times a week. But Dr Long predicts economic crisis; Dr Long has me thinking!
I had the room, and I have now just about two and half times as much on hand. For one thing, I buy in bulk when things go on sale and so save a little very quickly.
Tonight, I was at the grocery store with extra money on hand and so bought a jar of olives. It's not much nutrition, I know, but it is something my brother especially likes. And if there's one thing the last storm taught me, a lot of these foods are useless if you can't cook.
Truly. I have had my place all ready, but when the last storm was approaching, I asked the girlfriend what she wanted, and she said, "I want you to come here for the storm." I asked her if she had candles, and she said she had lots.
Well, yes she had lots of candles, but they were all scented candles in jars! In a small space, five scented candles burning for a couple hours definitely made me ill! Now, I offered, and now, she has two brass candle sticks and some tapers.
I'm concerned that if the economy goes and another storm hits, the many crews might not be there to quickly restore the power in a future outage! Perhaps a strange Summer thought, but I think I'll get another blanket!

I'm diversifying my investments.
This evening I purchased a high quality cotton blanket. I know, wool is warm and cotton doesn't do much, but the girlfriend doesn't like wool.

Kewl quotation from John Law.
Erroneously, I assumed most of my life that John Law was a placeholder for a fictitious lawman as the names John Doe and Joe Bloggs are fictitious placeholder names. What a surprise when I googled him!
The senior members of my family threw the name "John Law" at me frequently through out my younger years, and I never knew the intent of their throwing!
On different occasions, we were warned as children to fearfully respect The Judge, John Barley Corn, and John Law, that is.

Dr. Long advises that now is the time to buy food for the possible coming crisis. Therefore, I took an inventory of what I'm low on.
It turns out, I was getting low on stick matches, and in as much as I use disposable lighters, one can never tell how much is left in those stupid things; one can always see how many matches one has left! So I got matches at the grocery store and a few other items. And I'm all out of cashew butter, which means a separate upcoming trip to the health food store. Also, I'm low on candles, which means another upcoming separate trip. But the real score is that I went to the Food Pantry.
I had been to the Food Pantry or Food Bank once before, so I knew something about it. And I went this week!
The social interaction of a Food Pantry is difficult for me. I had these middle class, middle aged women very eager to have me take food I did not want; I held fast trying to not take food I would later toss out. But I did get a number of things I did want. For example, I got two pounds of sugar, two pounds of brown rice, one pound of spaghetti, and one pound of some other pasta.
Now, I have been following Dr. Long's writings on the economy and following his links for a long time. One idea I got is that variety is really important. The idea I got was that people will starve to death rather than continue to eat the same foods they have already had enough of. I'm sure that's true of my girl friend. Therefore, I was very happy to get a bottle of ketchup and a can of pineapple, because those are things she likes.
And I did accept a jar of peanut butter, as that is something I'll eat right away; it saves men buying it at the supermarket. Also, I accepted two acorn squash as my girlfriend just asked me to cook squash for her.
I really didn't want ten potatoes because I'm used buying potatoes one or two at a time. But I accepted a bag of potatoes as well.
Yes, one problem I did have was that their cans of beans and corn are such big cans! I'm an older guy who lives alone, and it makes sense for me to buy the single serving size. Therefore, reluctantly I accepted a large can of baked beans and a large can of black beans.
This Food Pantry allows visits once every three weeks, and I wrote on my calendar when I would be eligible to go back and collect more sugar, rice, pasta, and peanut butter.
Additionally. as much as I'm happy about my purchase last month of a new blanket, I'm looking for another one, if I can find a similar sale.
