Christianity is central to my religious faith. But when I was a child I had an unhelpful view of heaven as being a sort of place in the sky with clouds and hell as a place of fire and torture. It's natural for children to think in these unhelpful ways, I know find the Taoist definition of heaven and hell more helpful (and this how most adult Modern Christian view heaven of hell.

We have guided missiles and misguided men:-Martin Luther King
A belligerent Samurai, once challenged a Zen Master to explain the concept of heaven and hell, the monk elide with scorn, "You're nothing but a lout,- I can't waste my time on you,"
The Samurai flew into a rage, and pulled his sword from his scabbard and yelled "I could kill you for your impertinence!"
"That," the monk calmly replied "is hell."
Startled at this insight the monk sheathed his sword and thanked the monk for the insight.
"And that ," the monk replied "is heaven."
