If the vote for Scottish independence come up again, I am going to vote no. In my youth I wanted to be idealistic and support CND, but now that youthful idealism is over. I think Scotland's economic interests are better in staying with the union, assuming that there isn't going to be a nuclear war that is, which I think there probably won't be. We will just have to make multilateral progress through the Westminster government.
Many of my greatest heroes are English, Shakespeare, Orwell, Keynes and Newton. Yes I think I am Scottish but I think I am British as well.

A lot of my heroes are Scotsmen as well, Robert Burns, John Logie Baird, James Watt, Alexander Fleming, EDwin Morgan and Norman McCaig.

I very much agree with what you say in both posts Jonathan!
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

Just have to be optimistic. Voting Labour from now on.
Twenty percent chance of nuclear war it is then. The odds in any one given year are only about one percent, and its much more likely to be Korea or India vs Pakistan or Israel vs its neighbours than the old NATO vs Russia scenario. I used to believe in the clean hands argument but not so much now.
