Dear Members,
I would like to apologize for introducing the "ban" and "wrong group" buttons.
Initially, the "ban" button was introduced to stop new members from posting pornography on our website. Although it accomplished this purpose; the "ban" button quickly became used inappropriately to censure free speech.
The "wrong group" button was seldom used, but it was starting to be used inappropriately to suppress free speech.
Many members were wounded by the inappropriate use of the "ban" or "wrong group" buttons.
These buttons have been removed from our community. I apologize for the suffering that these buttons caused. I will just have to figure out another way to monitor our more than 57,000 posts.

Dr. Long,
You brought those "ban" and "wrong group " buttons on to try to help us and to protect us. Your reasons were noble that is important. I believe the idea was, technically, a good one. It would be difficult to monitor posts alone.
I was thinking what if the buttons remain below each post, however only you and Mark(or another administrator) see which posts receive "Ban/Wrong Group" votes. It would lighten your load and the people on the board would not be affected unless there really is something that needs to be addressed.

Hi Aqua, That would be a great idea; however I have promised everyone that I would get rid of both these buttons (because of the harm that they did). We are going to closely monitor the "Notify Admin" ratings; hopefully that is all that will be needed. On a more positive note; our community has been free of porn or fraud postings for months. So all that administrative help our members gave me with our buttons really helped in that regard. Phil Long M.D. Administrator |

You meant well Dr. Long. Don't feel bad. I used the x button only twice, both times were for adds. Never on a member. Hopefully the new system will be better. for everyone.
