If the sun were larger, a red giant say, it would most lkely be too dim and cold to support life. These stars are big but they're... sluggish.. lol
If it were a white hot star, it would have burned out long before life could have developed. These stars are hot, small and powerful and usually run out of steam very quickly.
I like having our sun.. a happy little medium sized star that suits us just fine :)
