Each and every time I log in here....
I make a statement that I feel the need to be here amongst like minded people who n the nain are kind and again in the main non judgemental.
Hence the reason I Keep on coming back.
When I first came to this mental health fellowship I arrived purely for myself, however it wasn't long before I realised, there were many others here that were much worse off than I.
And although I was very much aware I did not have the professional know how to help from a clinical perspective that kind words of support of support was beneficial.
As shown by the kind response, (in most cases), I received. That got me hooked and as result I have continued in whatever capacity I could.
Whatsmore it has improved my lot also.. for I firmly maintain when involved with the difficulty of others we distract from the poor me's naval gazing, (looking inward) if you like. And that has improved the quality of my life enormously.
What do you say about your personal experience here... or would you prefer not to say?
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

PS., It goes without saying for some time now we have experienced as serious shortfall in exchanges amongst one an other.
Hopefully, this will pass on e our transition to a new format is complete.
And the current deficit in communication becomes but a memory in our in our ongoing development.
Which is something that all websites go through from time to time, (I think it is termed upgrading), as a result of the necessary need to become more functional in the interest of all who use same.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

Yeah I think if you ever left here David this site would die, people would leave out of boredom etc.
I thought the problems this site was having only needed better anti-virus, anti spam etc. software the change in layout I don't understand. Under mood and schizophrenia there are no posts it just says "no forums found" and I couldn't figure out how to make one.
I guess most posts were only ever posted in social anyway and that's still here, it seems people never liked to scroll down the "table of contents" for the mostpart or if they did not respond nearly as much -I don't know why, I used to say why bother posting something in controversial etc. a few years ago because of how inactive it was but against the rules to post it here on social.
It's hard to believe this site has went from what it was in 2010/2011 and before to what it is now especially with the increasing popularity of social networking. I go to a dream interpreting forum that's not very active but it's like if you make a post at breakfast your likely to be responded to by bedtime by maybe 2 or 3 regular members depending on how interested they are in it, it used to be like that here but moreso I remember 2008/2009 I made some posts that amazed me how many responses I'd get from something I'd ask like,"what's your favourite chocolate bar." and it was like everybody would tell me and the folder would have flames meaning more than 20 replies(I think). Before 2008 when I first came here in 2006-2007 this site was so active you used to be able to see in some sections that are no longer there posts from the beginning to just the time when people decided to stop going there.
Stigs and maybe somebody else have been made inactive for around 2 months now and nobody's said anything about it. I'm a guy that's went through life with more scorn and little affection I mean I don't know what love is that's why I was confused with my ex it's all made me more thick skinned though jaded maybe but anyway just booting people off like that I think that's mean anyway. |

You know I was wondering where stigs has been Mike. What does that mean when it says a member is inactive? How does that happen? |

It just means he's unable to post, Dr Long said he was being incoherent and saying things that could be bad for other members if they listened to him -It was all under one of these "sticky" threads that gets replaced, around the end of June.
Anyone who violates the rules can be made inactive it used to happen but because the person was being rude, belligerent, trolls etc. but I don't think stigs deserved it, especially not for so long -I don't think anybody ever really had a problem with him I know I didn't. I was thinking maybe Dr Long forgot about him, I don't know why he didn't just say hey Stigs it sounds like your not doing so well maybe you should see your doctor or something instead of just being cold and obtuse like that. I mean Stigs has been coming here for like a decade. |

I see. Thanks for clarification Mike.
I agree. I think we all know that stigs was struggling with his MI and sometimes he would say sorry that he forgot to take his meds.
I don't think he purposely forgot to take them. I think we all know stigs well enough that he meant no harm.
I hope that one day Dr. Long will allow him back.
I hope stigs is doing well these days. |

Yeah I hope he's doing alright too. I never really read all that much of what Stigs said besides in responses to me, maybe he was a lot sicker than I knew about. I haven't really been all that involved here in the last few years, I've had things not easy to deal with in my life.
I post things sometimes that make me happy, interest me or feel better thinking maybe they will entertain somebody else, I'm a bit of a hobbyist too. |

Hi Mike Probably the best contribution that I have read thus far as to where we are at these days as opposed the where we are at the he heady days of circa 2010/11.
The only thing I disagree with is that this site will continue with or without my presence... I say what I do this mental health fellowship is not dependant on one person and never has been.
What in my personal view is needed to keep us afloat is new blood, not so much folk from the past, who have moved on, for whatever reason. I hasten to add I am not questioning their loyalty at that time.. however, no one can question that it continues to be with us.
Hence the imperative for a new format, starting with a new name, graduating to a new style. Hopefully opening up to new recruits who are not tainted by past events... whether they were considered good or bad events lies with the individual member... for we all interpret things differently.
NB I am in no way alluding to those members who remain steadfast here... come what may!

PS., The thing is living in the past or projecting to much in to the future is futile.
For we only ever live in the present and so that's we we aught to be right now if we are able to live life to the full!
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

NB., I am in no way alluding to those members who remain steadfast here... come what may
Who are sadly becoming less and less...
Hence the reason for change, no matter how uncomfortable the experience for those who don't like change in their lives.
From wherever it may present itself.
