Hi all,

This is my first time on the forum, so please appreciate that fact.

In 1995 I had a severe Nervous Breakdown which resulted in a trip to the funny farm. I was in there for nearly a month, but in that time I was placed on a whole host of drugs, but the one I stayed on for about 2 years was Seroxat. After being taken off that I had another trip to the "Funny Farm" and placed on Effexor. I have to say that my time on the drug has been relatively uneventful and I have kept an even keel. However, the weight gain I have suffered (10 Stone) and my general lethargy has meant that I have taken the bull by the horns and gone "Cold Turkey".

It is 2 weeks now and in that time I have been intolerable to my family, be very snappy. They have been very understanding even though my wife does not really want me to come off them.

The symptoms I have suffered are:
Tremendous stomach ache - visiting the bathroom up to 8 times a day.
Nausia - constantly feeling sick and dizzy.
Sweats - I cannot belive the amount I am sweating.
Brain Shocks
Poor Vision - Slow focusing and difficulty fixing on something.

Hi kevin@isleofwight.com,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you abord the good ship Hope.

Your one of many members who have suffered withdrawing from that particular medication.

I'm from the UK too. I reside in northeast England There are several British folk on the site. In in the main we have Canadian from where this site operates the US and there are other members as far flung as Australia, New Zealand,China and South Africa. So we're very much a cosmopolitan lot. Which is superb for on the Internet it makes no different from where on is located, and it provides an international flavor.

Herewith is a link to our main boards ....
