You spend more time in the office than at home and inevitably the office atmosphere influences your mood and everyday will not be the same. There may be deadlines, targets to achieve, and some days you may even reach the office late and the whole day might just turn against you. Companies are realizing the importance of wellness in the workplace and there are workshops being held to create a general awareness among the employees. In some offices, policies have also been changed to motivate the employees to make healthy choices and are made to understand the need to do so. In large corporate companies the management considers keeping their employees fit as a business strategy as happy employees means increased productivity and creativity. If the employees are stressed out then they will be prone to take more vacations and find excuses to avoid the office given the opportunity. If they feel that there are being taken care of then their sense of responsibility also increases and they will feel that their they must do justice to the company. There should be awareness programs in the office to motivate employees to understand the need of being physically active and to reduce the use of motor vehicles for short distances and choose cycling instead. Companies also encourage group discussions and team building exercises to increase the communication and to kinder the spirit of companionship. Such workshops are effective and it helps to develop a feeling that they belong to together and everybody’s contribution is valuable and that each employee is respected.
