I have not been getting enough sleep for the last month. I have early morning awakenings and get tired for the rest of the day. Thank you for those of you who posted caring messages for me during this time.

I know some of you have troubles with sleep too. I have already cut out all coffee from my system but I still have tea in the mornings.

Today was better in that I woke up at 6am and not 4am as I am likely to do. I don't want to rely on sleeping pills to get enough sleep as my medications are already sedating enough.

Wish you all a wonderful nights rest and good dreams.

Have you tried Melatonin my doctor has me take 5 mg. to help set my sleep patterns back to a more normal one. It worked for me I no longer have to a RX sleeping pill each night.

This morning I woke up at 3am. I have plans from noon onwards so I want to get some more sleep but once I awake I have trouble falling back asleep. I don't have the melatonin with me at the moment and I'd admit Jerry that I haven't tried your suggestion yet.

I have talked to my pdoc about it but the sleep hygiene list that he went with me is not working. This is especially so because I don't like to lie in bed waiting for fall back asleep and I have worries that keep me from falling back into bed.

For example today I was forgetting the library due dates so I had to call their phone system to check my due dates and then I've been awake ever since.

Good to see you back, Fleurette, I have missed you.

Sorry to hear of all the problems you are having with
getting sleep. It can really reek havoc with your life
when you don't have adequate rest. Other than trying to
wear yourself out, I don't have much in the way of a
solution for you. But, I hope this will resolve soon.

Thank you FLMgirl, for your well wishes. If I can get 6-7 hours of sleep it will be a good day. Last night I got 4 only.

Cheers,

fleurette

Hi Fleurette, how is sleeping going for you these days?
Any relief? Did you find anything that has worked? Since
surgery, and maybe since I do not lay in bed, I have been
having trouble sleeping. My problems seem to be falling
asleep, staying asleep, and getting back to sleep. I am too
nervous to take the prescribed sleep meds. Have you ever taken Temazepam/Restoril?

Hi FLM girl and stigmastomper,

My doctor has lowered by dosage of Abilify to help with my early morning awakenings. I have not taking any sleeping pills for my problem because they simply don't work. When I get up in the mornings to use the rest room, I just feel compelled to stsrt my day off. I don't know why this is so but some mornings it's just too early to get up at 4am. This morning I slept in until 6:30. So I have decided I must take my night time dosage at 10pm and then floss and get ready for bed by 10:30. Then if I fall asleep by 11pm I would have gotten 7 hours of sleep. Or about that much.

Hi FLMgirl, are you on Temazepam or Restoril? Does it work for you? I have never been on these medications.

Wishing that you get a good nights sleep too especially after surgery. It is imperative that your body restores itself though sleep.

Nothing beats a good 7 hours of sleep.

I just hope you could resolve your sleeping problems. And you're right, "Nothing beats a good 7 hours of sleep" to start the day up.
