Dear Members,
We have decided to temporarily close Psych.Community, Schizophrenia.Community and MoodDisorder.Community.
Over the next few months, we will redesign our communities to be tutorial groups giving educational courses on Schizophrenia and Mood Disorders.
The success of online tutorial courses elsewhere suggests that this model represents the future of the online self-help movement.
I want to thank all of you for the support you have given our community over all these past years. Our community will be archived so that your excellent posts will not be lost.
It will take a few months to redesign our software and create new educational content for our tutorial courses. This will necessitate closing down our current self-help communities as we make this transition to our new educational communities.
When we reopen, I hope you will consider becoming online tutorial leaders in our redesigned communities.
Our present self-help communities will remain open for the next week to allow members to say goodbye to old friends.
After that, our discussion boards will freeze and no longer accept new posts.
In the new year, our communities will reopen as online tutorial groups teaching self-help courses in Schizophrenia and Mood Disorders.
Many of us have grown old together in the past two decades of our membership in this self-help community. We have shared an important part of our lives, and I will always cherish these memories.
I will not say goodbye, because this is only a temporary closure of all our communities. I hope to see you all when we reopen our online tutorial courses in the new year.

... and by that I mean All of you..
friends and foe alike... makes no difference
for we have a lot more common than you may think
when it comes to promoting mental wellness...
as opposed to a conflict of personality!
Hi Phil
Many thanks for letting us know of your decision
to temporarily close us down, rather than it just
happening.
May I respectfully point out that we will in future
be two communities as opposed to three, with the
social board no longer existing in the new set up.
I don't blame you for this revision, for here in the
social area, we have become almost defunct any way.
No matter that members pleaded with you to keep it open
and than failed to maintain it through the lack of participation.
As I do not fit into the other two categories under review,
I feel it necessary to move on now.
As you are aware, I've been around since the the beginning.
However, in more recent times, I have felt more than a
little frustrated at the lack of engagement.
I therefore find it a blessing in disguise that I can move on
to pastures new, without a guilty conscience as far as
past loyalty is concerned.
Thanks to you, Mark and all other members of this fellowship
who have supported me in my endeavours over time, and hopefully
on a reciprocal basis.

so although sad, I'm also upbeat about what may come next in my life!

id like to deny it but i was in rough rough shape when i arrived here
to each and every former current member that has assisted me
i owe a great debt of gratitude
thank you phil
had you not let me stay on this site i oprobably would have just said the hell with it all and died
but instead you got my back and although you have not said all that much to me in about ten years . you always made it count
the future of psychitry is ditial drugs that are computer programs that use the brains own pharmcy and vitual reality to treat mental illness with artificial intelligence body scanning we wont need psychitrits mental health workers etc but what we will always need is a site like the one we have had .
to state the obvious :mental illness sucks lol |

Thank you for existing in the first place. The past 9 years with MT/PC has brought me support and comfort in many a dark moment. And great friendships with beautiful people. I wish I never closed my old profile.
I guess things have to change eventually. Nothing is forever. I am forever grateful for the work and effort that went into keeping this place alive by all involved.

I came to deal with the label of my diagnosis on this web site and overcame the stigma of it. It has helped me through thick and thin.
Thanks for all the effort that went into maintaining the place :)

and I feel just the same in my head nine years later.
Nevertheless I am sufficiently realistic to bow to
the need for change.
However, I feel my journey,
is not over here,
and shall try if that be at all possible
to remain in the new set up...

Thanks for the 7 days, very good of you, I suddenly realised they finished today so I made the most of this evening.
I am ready Dr Long. Make it come to pass swiftly so that we don't linger and that it all ends on a good note.

A note to you if I may that I have always wanted to say to you.
It disturbs me greatly that your "911 was staged thread" went missing from this web site.
I hold the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle in my mind that you never knew and speculated incorrectly about. You said that they did it to get control of Iraq and get access to oil. Well they don't even really have good control of those oil fields any more so I don't think this reason has held up over time. Money is inconsequential to them they are beyond rich.
They did it to justify hyper security and invasive personal monitoring and to get through every law they ever hoped for giving them the power to do what they like to monitor everything. Phone calls, texts, Internet posts linked to your IP address.
Where we go from here I don't know but I always wanted to tell you that. But felt you might go around the bend when the penny dropped for and you could see every thing lining up in front of you. I did that for you. But this will be the last time we talk Dr Long so there it is. My gift to you.
Thanks for being a good sort to us. And while they may not sound like a great compliment to close on. Being a good sort is a special compliment we reserve where I am from for those who really are good sorts.
